PRAKASH SINGH

Born in walled city area of New Delhi in 1973, Prakash Singh is a Photojounalist -visual story telller in India, Earlier worked with Agence France-Presse, Ther Hindustan Times and the Finanacial express .
He received his diploma in Photo-journalism in 1994 from the prestigious Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi. He also worked in the national daily Financial Express as Photographer and joined the leading newspaper Hindustan Times in New Delhi as Senior Photographer in February 1996.
During a chequered career, Prakash Singh has travelled widely and made his mark covering news events ranging from natural calamities like the cyclone and earthquake, floods, a drought and the Tsunami tragedy in India and Sri Lanka. He has also covered the Kargil conflict between India and Pakistan, cricket and sports tournaments, the post-Taliban period in Afghanistan, the SAARC and Asean summits and elections in Indonesia, Conflict in Sri Lanka,the Asian Games in Busan, South Korea as well as regular, everyday news assignments.
His work has been recognised and Prakash Singh won the third prize in the photo of the year Award from UNICEF, Germany, 2000, , an honorary diploma in photography for the year 2001 from the Academy of Visual Media, New Delhi and an honorary mention in UNEP International Photographic Competition on the Environment 2004-05, Tokyo. For his Tsunami coverage in India and Sri Lanka he got first prize in Japan International photo competition 2005. His work appeared reguarly in Time, Newsweek, The New York Times alongwith other newspapers and megazines in India and abroad. Prakash Singh was also Member Jury for the 7th National Photography awards 2019, organized by Photo -Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
Prakash Singh has also participated in a group exhibition on Afghanistan with AFP Delhi's photographers in 2002. Prakash Singh has done few coffee table books. His first coffee table book "The making of Hyderabad International Airport" For GMR got published in 2009, and second Coffee Table book "Sonia Gandhi-A Living Legend" published in 2012 (self published) . He did is third coffee table book "Mahakumbh_-A celebration of Faith and Spirituality" (in Hindi/English) and a 11 min doumentary on Mahakumbh for Uttar Pradesh Government in 2013. His fourth Coffee Table book is "Vrindavan Widows" for Sulabh International published in 2015. Another upcoming coffee table book projects are "Konkan Railway" and "Delhi Metro: Capital’s Lifeline".
